LatinTeacher retires...last ride on the chalkboard....gradebooks are heaviest at the end of the year....
And so it ends. After many a year of teaching middle and high school students the nuances of Latin, as well as social studies and a plethora of other topics, LatinTeacher Mr. Mitchell is hanging up the chalk. His last day in the classroom with the kids is today.
I know lots of teachers. It is always a pleasure to work with a truly dedicated teacher who cares about the kids first, himself second. Mitchell always brought his personality into the kids lives, in huge doses, and it made a great impact on his students. In the grand scheme of things, Mr. Mitchell is one of the good guys.
I see him years from now back in the classroom, wiser and maybe a bit more relaxed, but still bringing an energy that sparks young minds; making kids believe that ancient cultures still have an impact on us every day.
Giving up those summer, man, you must be ready for a new challenge. Good luck to you.
Ok, on with the show. rizzo
